It is almost the end of the first month of the new decade and I am so late to the goals party. But I thought I would share them with you today. Maybe not to inspire you to make your own, if it does – I am so honored – but to keep myself accountable.

My goals for the new decade. 2020 goals. New year new me

So I think it is best if I break it up into the 7 different categories of life that are important namely: Career, Financial, Spiritual, Physical, Intellectual, Family, and Social

I wrote down some goals before the new year started, but then things just got a bit away from me so I haven’t looked at it since. I am not even sure if I will have goals in each of these categories.

  • Get or set up an additional income stream

So far it is only my architectural work that brings in money for me. But I am looking into other income streams that I can start that is either additional work or a form of passive income.

Forms of income that I am looking into:

  • Affiliate marketing
  • See where this blog takes me and if I can turn it into an income
  • Finding another type of side hustle

Become debt-free

I am still paying off my student loan and the last payment will be in May 2020. Which I am super pumped about. I started paying off the loan in 2015. But there was always something that prohibits me from paying it off early.

And then also pay off my credit card debt. Because of emergencies at the end of 2020, my savings got depleted and so my credit card was a saving grace. But this pushed the progress that I made in paying the card off way back.

Starting better habits when it comes to my spiritual life

One of my biggest goals of 2020 is to read my Bible daily and also show more gratitude for the things in my life.

I started with a journal that I would list a minimum of two things that I am grateful for that day. We get so caught up in all the things and successes of other people on social media that we forget the things in your own life that we should be grateful for.

Get toned and lose that 4kg that has been nagging me for ages

Luckily I made some progress with this already. I joined the Tone It Up community on their workout app a while ago. On the 6th of January, they started their love your body series which I joined.

So I have been trying to get most of the workouts done for the week. But I am happy to report that I am seeing some results.

Drink a minimum of 1 liter of water a day

For my length and weight, I should drink 1.5 to 2 liters of water a day. But I am just happy if I get in 1 liter of water. Because in the past I was terrible in drinking water. I think it also helped tremendously with the results I have been seeing.

Drink my vitamins every day

Don’t think I can say anything more than that I want to drink my vitamins every day.

Improve my personal style

I would love to get into fashion more. So hopefully this year I get the chance to do

Learn new skills

I would love to get more into photography and also start caligraphy. But photography is more what I am leaning towards. My husband has a DSLR camera which I used a couple of times. But I want to improve my photography skills more.

Just connect with all of my friends more and getting together more frequently.

Also, connect with my husband more. I notice that if you are not careful it is so easy to start living past each other. So I am still marinading on a few ideas on how I can accomplish this.

Maybe I will add to these goals that I want to accomplish in 2020. But for now, I think it is a good start!

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”

Will Durant

Let me know what your goals are for 2020! I would love to read them in the comment section!
