As the saying goes, “the kitchen is the heart of the home”. And no wonder, we spend the majority of our time being in the kitchen. It is one of the spaces in our home that gets the most traffic. We are constantly cooking and cleaning and providing for our family from this important space.

So it is obvious that we want the kitchen to function well, but also look beautiful. For me, a well-organized and clean kitchen lifts my mood instantly. But let’s be real, no one has the kind of money lying around to go and remodel a kitchen just because the one we have is not to our taste. Or if you are like me, you are renting, and remodeling is just not possible (except if you have an awesome landlord that would remodel the kitchen for you).

1 Countertop Decor

If you search kitchen decor on Pinterest you will instantly be inspired by all the options available to you. Personally, I love a mix between the farmhouse and glam decor style. So achieving this can be quite challenging if you don’t find the right elements. (BTW, decor on the countertop is one of my favorite ways to make my kitchen look and feel nice)

Decor items that will make your kitchen look good but also function well, are decorative trays, cookbooks, charcuterie boards, utensil holders, and vases.

2 Kitchen Sink Decor

I hate am not the biggest fan of doing dishes, so having a dishwasher is a must for me. But sometimes you just have to hand wash some items. So making the kitchen sink area look cute is a small way to upgrade your kitchen.

3 Kitchen Towels

If you look at any nicely styled kitchen, you will notice that there is a kitchen towel somewhere. That such a small piece of fabric can have such a big impact is baffling to me!

4 Cabinet Door Handles

If you are in the market to upgrade your kitchen in a big way but on a tight budget, then replacing your door handles with new ones might just be up your alley. This kitchen upgrade is also renter-friendly. Just keep the original handles and put them back when you move out.

5 Paint the Cabinets

If you have more wiggle room in your budget and you have the time to do it, why not give the cabinets a new look with some paint!

Maybe even try a bold color on the island!

This is a bonus tip! Now I know this might seem not like a worthy mention to upgrade your Tupperware, but trust me. Having Tupperware that is not all over the place and you know where to find the lids, just makes a huge difference in your life. And it totally levels up your meal prepping to the next level!
